1st Engagement Platoon Training Course for UN Troops in Brazil
Cascavel City (Brazil) – From June 28 to July 9, 2021, the 1st Brazilian Training Course of the most recent Platoon introduced by the United Nations in the organization of a Peace Mission Infantry Battalion took place. The two-week activity was conducted by the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB), in compliance with the most modern concepts and techniques of specialized instructions for peace operations.
All 18 Platoon members of the Brazilian Peacekeeping Force Infantry Battalion (Mechanized) - BI F Paz (Mech), from the 15th Mechanized Infantry Brigade, in CASCAVEL/PR, were instructed in the context of the activities aimed at raising the Battalion to Level 2 of the United Nations Peacekeeping Capability Readiness System.
Fifty percent of the Platoon consists of women, thus enabling the effective participation of the female component in accordance with the requirements contained in the United Nations Infantry Battalion Manual (UNIBAM), and in conformity with the Women, Peace and Security Agenda of the UN Secretariat. Its mission is to increase the situational awareness of the Battalion by mapping and identifying vulnerable areas and the population at risk in a peace operation.
Therefore, in line with UN requirements, the Land Operations Command (COTER), through the Department of Education and Culture of the Brazilian Army (DECEx), designed eminently practical activities with the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB) so as to emphasize the capabilities, competences and abilities necessary for the deployment in a Peace Mission.
The Engagement Platoon Training Course precedes the UN Assessment and Advisory Visit (AAV), which will be held in Brazil from July 11 to 17, 2021.
