CCOPAB closes another edition of the UNMO, UNSO and UNPOL courses (2021.1)

Rio de Janeiro (RJ) - From 19 April to 21 May 2021, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center - Sergio Vieira de Mello Center, a Brazilian Army Educational Organization supervised by the Department of Military Technical Education, completed the third and last phase of UNMO, UNSO and UNPOL courses.

For this edition, the third phase of the courses was divided into two parts:
- From 19 to 30 April, the second edition of the Comprehensive Protection of Civilians Course/CPoC was delivered, in order to train military and police personnel to hold positions regarding the protection of civilians in UN PKOs.
- From 03 to 21 May, the Center delivered the training for military and police personnel to hold United Nations Staff Officers (UNSO), United Nations Military Observers (UNMO) and UN Individual Police Officers (IPO) positions.

As in the CPoC Course, the second part of the third phase, covering the STMs for UNSO, UNMO and UNPOL, was fully carried out in English, which was previously practiced during the High Intensity Language Training (HILT) - the second phase of the courses.

Twenty-seven students completed the courses: two from the Brazilian Navy (Marine Corps), 16 from the Brazilian Army, five from the Brazilian Air Force and four from National State Police Departments.

It is expected that those students be deployed to the following UN Missions:
- United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO);
- United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA);
- United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS); and
