CCOPAB carries out the Green Day as part of the UNMO, UNSO and UNPOL courses
Rio de Janeiro (RJ) - On 13 May 2021, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center - Sergio Vieira de Mello Center - a Brazilian Army Educational Organization supervised by the Department of Military Technical Education - carried out the Green Day as part of the third phase of UNMO, UNSO and UNPOL courses. The activity, fully practiced in English, was held at Gericinó Training Field.
It aimed at practicing the UN blue concept as set by the Core Pre-deployment Training Material (CPTM) and Specialised Training Materials (STM). On the occasion, incidents regarding the Protection of Civilians, Disarmament /Demobilization /Reintegration (DDR), Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA), Conflict-Related Sexual Violence (CRSV), Negotiation/ Mediation, First Aid etc. were practiced.
For this edition, National Military and State Police personnel shall be deployed to the following UN missions:
- United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS),
- United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon/ Land Force (UNIFIL),
- United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO), and
- United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO).
In addition to CCOPAB Instructors and Monitors, the educational process was enriched by the participation of guest instructors from the Army Command and State Police personnel from Rio Grande do Norte and Minas Gerais. Likewise, it is important to highlight the participation of Brazilian Research Network on Peace Operations members, from PUC-Rio, as role players.
The Green Day was also significantly supported by the following military organizations:
- 1 Mechanized Infantry Battalion,
- 15 Mechanized Armoured Regiment,
- 11 Campaign Artillery Group, and
- Gericinó Training Field.
