CCOPAB strengthen the bonds with the Brazilian Research Network on Peace Operations (REBRAPAZ)
Rio de Janeiro (RJ) - The Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center - Sergio Vieira de Mello Center, a Brazilian Army Educational Organization supervised by the Department of Military Technical Education, strengthen the bonds with the Brazilian Research Network on Peace Operations (REBRAPAZ).
On 05 May, CCOPAB welcomed Professor Ricardo Oliveira dos Santos, from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio, acronym in Portuguese) and educational coordinator of REBRAPAZ, accompanied by Mr. Igor Barreto de Souza and Miss Yasmin da Cunha Paes; both PUC-Rio researchers.
Apart from CCOPAB Commander, the Chief of the Doctrine Division and the Chief of the Division of Education and Training also participated in the activity. Among other issues, suggestions of CCOPAB educational activities which need the participation of researchers and collaborators were then discussed.
On that same day, Professor Sérgio Aguilar, from São Paulo State University (UNESP/Marília) delivered a presentation about his researches on UN peace missions in Central Africa Republic (MINUSCA) and in DRCongo (MONUSCO), focusing on the use of force and protection of civilians - priority issues in the UN System.
Afterwards, on 7 May, Professor Leonardo Carvalho Braga, Master in International Relations at the IBMR University Center, gave a lecture on negotiation and mediation in the United Nations peace missions. The lectures given by both professors were for the UNMO, UNSO and UNPOL courses offered at CCOPAB.
The partnership and integration of Sergio Vieira de Mello Center, as a full member, with REBRAPAZ have been in force since 2016. The general coordination of the Research Network is, since then, under the responsibility of Dr. Eduarda Hamann.
