CCOPAB carries out the United Nations CPoC Course
Rio de Janeiro (RJ) - From 19 to 30 April, along with the UNSO, UNMO and UNPOL courses, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center - Sergio Vieira de Mello Center, an educational military organization of the Brazilian Army, under the supervison of the Department of Military Technical Education, delivered the second edition of the Comprehensive Protection of Civilians Course/CPoC, aiming at training military and police personnel to hold positions regarding POC in UN PKOs.
The course, entirely offered in English, was divided into two phases: on the first, students were familiarized with lessons from the Core Pre-Deployment Training Material (CPTM). Yet, on the second week, students had classes on the Specialised Training Materials (STM).
For the first time ever, the UN CPoC course was broadcast live by means of MS Teams, greatly supported by the Brazilian Army E-learning Center (CEADEX, acronym in Portuguese).
This activity, of international importance, also counted on lecturers and guest instructors from the following countries: Argentina, Brazil, France, Portugal, Spain and Uruguay.
Thirty-three students attended this edition: four from the Brazilian Navy, 20 from the Brazilian Army, five from the Brazilian Air Force and four from National State Police Departments.
Constantly seeking to become an international reference when it comes to training human resources, the Center, apart from the permanent members and guest instructors, highlights the participation of the following lecturers:
- Lieutenant General Carlos LOITEY, Military Advisor of the UN Department of Peace Operations;
- Mr. Luis CARRILHO, Police Advisor of the UN Department of Peace Operations;
