CCOPAB carries out continuning education on Protection of Civilians as well as on Sexual Exploitation and Abuse

Rio de Janeiro (RJ) - On 15 April 2021, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center - Sergio Vieira de Mello Center, an educational military organization of the Brazilian Army, supervised by the Department of Military Technical Education, carried out continuing education instructions, regarding relevant PKO issues.

The first part was about Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA), in which the instructor worked on the main considerations of the Military Aide Memoire: UN Measures agaisnt SEA. Commanders’ Guide on Measures to Combat SEA in UN Military.

For the second part of this continuing education, Professor Sérgio Aguilar, from the São Paulo State University - Campus in Marília) and a member of the Brazilian Research Network on Peace Operations (REBRAPAZ), delivered his presentation. The UN relevant topic presented by Prof Sérgio was Protection of Civilians (POC).

CCOPAB is a full member of REBRAPAZ. Since 2016, the Research Network is under the coordination of Dr. Eduarda Hamann who has been researching and teaching PKO subjects for over 20 years.
