CCOPAB Subordination Passage

Rio de Janeiro (RJ) – The Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese) subordination passage ceremony was carried out on 03 September 2019. After 14 years of subordination to the 1st Army Division - Mascarenhas de Moraes Division, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center became part of the Military Technical Education Board (DETMil, acronym in Portuguese), according to Ordinance No. 1179, of the Army Commander, on August 5, 2019.

The ceremony was led by GEN Arruda, East Military Commander, who was accompanied by GEN Tomás, Head of the Army's Department of Education and Culture. Then GEN Abrahão, 1st Army Division Commander, handed over the Center to General Martinelli, Director of Military Service, who currently serves as Director of Military Technical Education.

The activity was also attended by the following Generals: GEN Cunha, Deputy Chief of Peace Operations of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces; GEN Vasconcellos, Head of Peace Missions, Aviation and Military Police Inspector from Land Operations Commander; GEN Affonso da Costa, Head of Ground Force Preparation; GEN Montenegro, Commander of the Parachute Infantry Brigade; GEN Alan, Commander of the Army Logistical Support Base; GEN Miranda Filho, Commander of the Unit Grouping School - 9th Motorized Infantry Brigade, GEN Ramires, Commander of the School for the Improvement of Officers; GEN Stoffel, Manager of the Army Strategic Program Education and Culture System; and GEN Paixão, Institutional Relations Advisor to the Army's Department of Education and Culture.

Each Deputy Commanders of the mentioned authorities and Commanders of the various Military Organizations from the Military Village in Rio de Janeiro took part in the ceremony, as well as members of the Inter-American Armed Forces (FAIBRAS, acronym in Portuguese).

During the ceremony, COL Machado, CCOPAB Commander, read a text in which the importance of the 1st Army Division was highlighted, because it was key to build and to consolidate the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center. The Commander also highlighted future challenges and responsibility for being part of Army Education and Culture System.

From now on the Military Technical Education Board (DETMil, acronym in Portuguese) has ten directly controlled Educational Establishments and twenty-four Educational Establishments with technical pedagogical connection. Its mission is to direct, guide, supervise and evaluate teaching and research activities, as well as the training of career sergeants and the specialization of officers, warrant officers and sergeants.
