CCOPAB delivers a lecture at Air Force Command and General Staff School
Rio de Janeiro, RJ – 13 March, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese) responded to a request for a lecture (PCI, acronym in Portuguese), in order to deliver a lecture for students of the General Staff School (CCEM, acronym in Portuguese/2019) from Air Force Command and General Staff School (ECEMAR, acronym in Portuguese). On the occasion, the following topics were presented to them: “UN Peacekeeping Operations, the Brazilian participation and its increasing challenges”, and “Women, Peace and Security”. A video sharing an individual mission experience at a Peacekeeping Operation was also shown.
Lieutenant Colonel (Quartermaster) Machado, a student from CCEM, said it was an interesting lecture. He mentioned that it was important to know that current UN Multidimensional Peacekeeping Operations are complex, most of them under Chapter VII of the UN Charter.
On the other hand, Lieutenant Colonel Fernanda, also a student from CCEM, highlighted the importance of Major Christiane’s lecture on gender equality, regarding the increasing need for female participation in UN Peacekeeping Operations, particularly by means of Female Engagement Teams (FET).
The lectures were given by Lieutenant Colonel (Air Force) Ayres, Lieutenant Commander (Navy) Tierce and Major (Army) Christiane Lima.
