CCOPAB carries out Unit Commander and Staff Course for UNIFIL MTF
Rio de Janeiro (RJ) - From 05 to 09 November, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB) - Sérgio Vieira de Mello Center - carried out another edition of the Flagship Commander and Staff Course for the MTF - 17th Brazilian Contingent.
Besides the presence of staff officers, it is important to highlight the presence of the next UNIFIL MTF Commander - His Excellency Rear Admiral Eduardo Augusto WIELAND. He received honors when arriving at the Center and was welcomed by COL Machado, CCOPAB commander, at the very first day of the course. There were 19 participants - the commander, his deputy, officers and NCOs; all of them as crew of the frigate UNIÃO, the next flagship in the mission in Lebanon.
The objective was to deliver CPTM lessons and thus enable participants to carry out their activities in the mission. Former members of UNIFIL familiarized students with the reality of the mission - either by means of on-site lectures or video conferences.
His Excellency Gen Menandro, COL Soares and Commander (Navy) Amendoeira, representatives of the Mission of Brazil to the United Nations, talked to students by means of a video conference. On the occasion, they could contribute to the preparation of students by sharing their knowledge on Peace Missions and explaining the role of the Mission of Brazil to the United Nations and its implications for the success of the MTF-UNIFIL.
COL Moreira Lima from the Brazilian Air Force, working as the Under-chief of Peace Operations (SC4, acronym in Portuguese) at the Ministry of Defense, was also present at the course. He could then know more about the activities carried out by CCOPAB.
During the closing ceremony, students were awarded their certificates of completion.
