CCOPAB is part of the delegation visiting Turkey

From 20 to 27 October, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center, as a member of the delegation from the Peace Mission Division, Aviation and IGPM/COTER (acronyms in Portuguese) visited the military facilities in the cities of Istanbul and Ankara, in the Republic of Turkey.

The objective of the visit was to gather lessons learned by the Armed Forces from Turkey - a NATO member - when it comes to PKOs, Aviation and Logistics. COL Machado - CCOPAB commander, COL Gerken - Chief of the Peace Missions Division and COL Muniz - Chief of the Aviation Division, the last two officers as representatives of the Land Operations Command (COTER, acronym in Portuguese), were welcomed in several Turkish military facilities in Ankara and Instanbul.

Amongst the activities, the Brazilian delegation could observe a rescue simulation during a fictitious natural disaster, carried out by the Humanitarian Assistance Brigade. The delegation could also watch the presentation of aircrafts from the Army Aviation Command, highlighting the attack helicopter produced in Turkey.

To top it all off, the Brazilians were able to visit important historical sites, especially Anitkabir, a mausoleum for Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Turkish Republic and its first president after the Independence War.
