CCOPAB carries out Workshop on CPoC

Rio de Janeiro (RJ) - The Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB) and the Brazilian Network Research on Peace Operations (REBRAPAZ) coordinated a workshop on Comprehensive Protection of Civilians (CPoC) in UN PKOs. From 09 to 11 October, CCOPAB hosted the event, gathering military authorities, civilians and university representatives, whose researches are on PKOs.

The main goal was to provide the military, police and civilian components of a UN mission with guidance, so that they are able to plan and execute comprehensive and integrated actions regarding the protection of civilians. The activity also contributed to develop integration among several actors in the humanitarian field and peace missions, taking into acount different institutional mandates, in order to be as effective as possible when it comes to the protection of civilians.

Among many, the lecturers were the following: MG José Ricardo Vendramin Nunes - Brazilian Army Assistant at the War College; COL Neyton Araújo Pinto - Force Commander Assistant in MONUSCO (videoconference); Ms. Renata Gianini - Igarapé Institue/ REBRAPAZ; Ms. Maria Beatriz Bonna Nogueira - Chief of UNHCR Office in São Paulo; Ms. Joana Chamusca Chagas - UN Women Agency; Ms. Jana Tabak - PUC-Rio/REBRAPAZ; Mr. Sergio Aguilar - UNESP/REBRAPAZ; Mr. Gustavo Macedo - USP; LTC Cesar Amadeo Fragni - CAECOPAZ; LTC Luís Cláudio Talavera de Azevedo - COTER; COL Hélio Tenório dos Santos - São Paulo State Police (PMESP); Ms. Everharda Rooijmans - Senior PoC Officer in Goma (DRC).
