On March 2, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese) celebrated the 12th anniversary of its predecessor, the Peacekeeping Operations Center (CI Op Paz, acronym in Portuguese). The event had the participation of Mr. Vanderlei Braga, president of Suez Battalion Members Association in Rio de Janeiro; Mr. Jorge Rangel, president of the Former Members of the Brazilian Detachment in the Peace Interamerican Force (FAIBRAS, acronym in Portuguese); Mr André Simões, nephew of Mr Sergio Vieira de Mello, CCOPAB’s Patron; as well as of Unit Commanders or their representatives and civilian guests.
On February 15, the General Attorney of the Military Prosecution Service along with a group of prosecutors hosted Major Flávio Henrique, who represented the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center, in Brasília, Federal District. The goal of the meeting was to strengthen bonds between CCOPAB and members of the Military Prosecution Service, in order to boost the exchange of information regarding lawsuits in Peace Operations as well as to develop mutual knowledge between both Institutions.
The Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB), a military unit whose mission is to support the preparation of military and police personnel as well as civilians for peace missions, carried out the Course for Subunit Commanders and Platoon Leaders (EPCOSUPEL) for the 26th Brazilian Contingent in the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH).
On February 9, a delegation from the European Union visited the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center. During the visit, Ambassador João Gomes Cravinho accompanied by Minister Estefan Simosas, members of the delegation, learned the unique activities the Center carries out by watching a lecture delivered by the Commander and his staff. They also had the chance to tour the Center’s facilities.
On February 8, Colonel Charles Orlianges, French military attaché, visited the Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB), accompanied by Lieutenant Colonel Mouezy, liaison officer between the French and Brazilian armies, who currently serves at CCOPAB. The visit was meant to tighten the cooperation bonds between France and Brazil.
The Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB), by means of a Mobile Training Team (MTT), contributed to the preparation of the crew of Frigate União, from the Brazilian Navy, which will integrate the Maritime Task Force (MTF) of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) as of March, replacing Frigate Liberal.
