CCOPAB participates in the training of the Army Military Police for peace missions
Rio de Janeiro – The main goal of the Field Exercise that was conducted from July 17 to 21 was to train the Military Police Peace Force Company, which is one of the Brazilian Army components that are available for the United Nations Peacekeeping Capabilities Readiness System – UNPCRS.
The Exercise was coordinated by the 1st Army Military Police Battalion (1ºBPE, acronym in Portuguese) and counted on the support of the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese). It allowed the Police Peace Force Company to put into practice situations similar to the ones that may occur in a peace mission, as such: proportional use of force, according to the Rules of Engagement; prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse; human rights; mobility support; protection of civilians; gender issues; displaced persons and refugee control and counseling; security operations and investigation; civil disturbance response plan.
UNPCRS
The United Nations Member States provide troops and military experts to be employed in the search of peace by means of UN peace missions, whenever and wherever they are necessary. The UNPCRS aims at developing a dynamic process between the UN and Member States, so that it is possible to ensure proper readiness from the provided peace forces.
