CCOPAB starts Advanced Exercise for Peacekeeping Operations of the 26th Brazilian Battalion

On April 17, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese) started the Advanced Exercise for Peacekeeping Operations in order to certify the 26th Brazilian Battalion for the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH). The Exercise will be held until April 28th in Caçapava, São Paulo.

The Exercise is the last phase of the training and it portrays diverse scenarios that simulate the situations that the Brazilian Contingent might face in Haiti.

On the first day, the OCAs (Observer, Controller and Appraiser), who come from different parts of Brazil, attended a presentation on the adaptation to the Advanced Exercise. The OCAs have a solid professional background from previous contingents in Haiti and contribute by evaluating the troops and sharing their experience. Colonel Carlos Augusto Ramires Teixeira, CCOPAB’s commander, conducted the activity.

The lecture highlighted that the evaluation will be based on UN international standards, which guide the certification process of all troops that are employed in peace missions.

The Advanced Exercise is split in two phases: the first one aims at Combat Groups and Platoon and it will be finished on April 22; the second is to certify each cell of the General Staff that will be part of the 26th BRABAT in Haiti.
