Preparatory Course for Journalists 2012/2 – 2nd Day
The second day of the course for journalists at CCOPAB was marked by lectures concerning topics such as terrorism, improvised explosive devices, communication and negotiation.
With the use of the simulator to demonstrate rules of engagement, the journalists could experience how difficult it may be to make decisions in stressful moments. Self control is a key tool to prepare for actions in conflict areas.
One more remarkable moment on that day was the presence of war correspondent Leão Serva, who shared his experience in armed conflicts with the journalists of the course. Reports of moments he experienced in the midst of armed conflicts reinforced the importance of the instructions the class had already attended as well as of those which will continue through the course.
The journalists taking part of the course could enlarge their knowledge on how to identify and deal with different situations, and learned how to be alert with details and behaviors in general, as well as with the places where they stay, the way they have to behave and the planning for critical moments when their lives have to be their priority.
