Ceremony to celebrate the 7th anniversary of CCOPAB

On March 1st, 2005, Directive no. 090 was issued on February 23 of the same year by the Commander of the Brazilian Army in order to create the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Training Center (acronym in Portuguese: CIOpPaz).

With the growing participation of Brazil in this kind of operation, the Brazilian Ministry of Defense decided to unite efforts of the three Armed Forces and the Brazilian Auxiliary Forces and use the facilities of CIOpPaz as the base to create a Joint Center which would meet the needs of any civilian or military person assigned to represent Brazil in a peacekeeping or humanitarian demining operation.

CIOPaz as a Military Organization had its name changed by Directive no. 952-MD issued on June 15, 2010 to Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center (acronym in Portuguese: CCOPAB) and remained subordinated to the Brazilian Army although it counted with the important bondage to the Ministry of Defense. CCOPAB´s main mission is to support the preparation of military, police and civilian personnel from Brazil and friendly nations to peacekeeping and humanitarian demining missions.

The ceremony held to celebrate the date counted on the presence of military and civilian authorities, among whom were Lieutenant General José Alberto da Costa Abreu, Commander of the Brazilian 1st Army Division, commander representatives from the following military organizations: 26º B I Pqdt, CAADEx, 27º B I Pqdt, 11º GAC, 1º B I Mtz (Es), 1º Esq C Pqdt and HGRJ, as well as the former deputy commander of CCOPAB Captain Alexandre Aballo Nunes, and representatives from the Brazilian Association of Ex-Combatants (acronym in Portuguese: FAIBRAS) and from the Brazilian Association of Members of the Suez Battalion.
