CCOPAB takes part in the 3rd ALCOPAZ Annual Assembly in Santiago, Chile.

From the 16 to 19 of August, 2011, the 3rd Assembly of the Latin American Association of Peacekeeping Operations Training Centers (ALCOPAZ) took place in the Chilean Joint Peacekeeping Operations Center, in the city of Santiago. The main theme of this Assembly was “ALCOPAZ, the present and the future: the view of its members to strengthen the capacities and trainings and improve the management of Peacekeeping Operations, including the Joint ones”.

Created in 2009, ALCOPAZ is an entity formed by the training centers of the Latin American and Caribbean countries, dedicated to the capacity-building and training of members of the Armed Forces, Security Forces and Civilians, destined to participate of peacekeeping operations developed under the auspices of the UN.

Delegations from Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay took part in the event as well as representatives from the Pearson Peacekeeping Centre, from Canada, and the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation, from the USA, and several diplomat representatives.

The Brazilian delegation was led by Rear Admiral (Brazilian Navy)Jorge Armando Nery Soares, Deputy Chief of the Operational Logistics from the Ministry of Defense and the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center (CCOPAB) was represented by its Deputy Commander, Captain (Brazilian Navy) Alexandre Nunes Aballo and by the chief of the Police Affairs Section, Captain (Police) Helio Tenório dos Santos.
