CCOPAB carries out the Civil-Military Coordination Course

Rio de Janeiro (RJ) – From September 30th to October 04th, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese), Sergio Vieira de Mello Center, carried out the Civil-Military Coordination Course (CIMIC). The target audience of this activity was captains/students at Armor Advanced Course School (EsAO, acronym in Portuguese), as well as police officers and civilians from the academia.

The aim of the course was to prepare military personnel, police officers and civilians to carry out their functions as for the UN Civil Affairs System, focusing on CIMIC.

COL MARCO ANTÔNIO ESTEVÃO MACHADO, CCOPAB Commander, carried out the opening and gave the first lesson.

Thirty-four trainees took the course: nineteen captains from ESAO, one of them from Guyana; seven from the Military Police, two of them from the Military Brigade of Rio Grande do Sul; two from the Rio de Janeiro Military Police; one from the Mato Grosso do Sul Military Police; two from the Santa Catarina Military Police; seven civilians from the Brazilian Institute of Medicine and Rehabilitation; three from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro; two from the São Paulo State University.

Among the instructors, the following military and civilian personnel participated as guests: MAJ ALEXANDRE SHOJI, from the Western Military Command, MAJ FERNANDA SANTOS PEREIRA DA SILVA, from the São Paulo Military Police State, and Sir EMMANUEL GAY, from United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
