CCOPAB contributes to the training of Navy troops deploying to Lebanon

On August 06, the Mobile Training Team (MTT) from the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese) embarked on the Brazilian Navy Corvette Barroso, which will compose the Maritime Task Force (MTF) in the United Nations Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). The objective of the MTT is to give its contribution to the training of the Brazilian Navy members who will be part of MTF/UNIFIL.

The MTT is composed of four instructors from CCOPAB and they will deliver instructions on the Pre-deployment Training Materials (CPTM), which cover the basic content for those who take part in a United Nations peace mission. CPTM comprises topics related to relevant international laws, human rights, respect for diversity, gender, among others. Therefore, it is an essential tool for the deployment of troops.

Corvette Barroso departed Niterói, Rio de Janeiro, and it is heading to Lebanon in order to replace Frigate União, which also belongs to the Brazilian Navy and is the current Flagship of MTF/UNIFIL. The Mobile Training Team from CCOPAB will be on board the Corvette until the end of the week and will disembark in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte.

Due to its bonds with the Ministry of Defense, CCOPAB is an institution that certifies troops and individuals who are assigned to be part of peace missions. Since its beginning in 2010, CCOPAB has already had four of its courses acknowledged by the United Nations, which renders Brazil legitimacy and international credibility regarding the training of troops.
