CCOPAB contributes to the preparation of Brazilian Navy military personnel heading for Lebanon.

The Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB), by means of a Mobile Training Team (MTT), contributed to the preparation of the crew of Frigate União, from the Brazilian Navy, which will integrate the Maritime Task Force (MTF) of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) as of March, replacing Frigate Liberal. From 29 January to 03 February, the Mobile Training Team from CCOPAB, consisting of two Brazilian Army officers and one Brazilian Navy officer, delivered classes on the Core Pre-deployment Training Material (CPTM) and the Middle East mission-related topics such as principles of UN PKOs, relevant international law, Human Rights (HR), respect for diversity and others. On 29 January, the Frigate União left Niterói-RJ heading for Lebanon; yet, CCOPAB military personnel, who was on board, later disembarked in Natal-RN, at the end of the training activity.

UNIFIL Maritime Task Force

Currently, UNIFIL Maritime Task Force is commanded by the Brazilian Rear Admiral Claude Enrique Mello de Almeida and its Flag-ship is the Brazilian Navy Frigate Liberal. Besides assisting the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF), the MTF carries out maritime interdiction operations in order to prevent the entry in Lebanon, without its consent, of arms or related materiel.
